My new camera arrived today!
Those of you who were within earshot of my garage last weekend will remember that my trusty camera fell out of the back of Jon Bon Jovi's El Camino and endo'd down my driveway with a gut-twisting splatter.
(Let me apologize once again for my colorful language and moderate loss of temper, particularly to my neighbor Mrs. Lingenbottom whose three-year-old granddaughter was playing in the front yard at the time. Little Greta did some hard time in the preschool office on Monday after being overheard commenting to another adorable cherub that if she had to eat one more friggin' fishy cracker she was going to have a friggin' meltdown.
Only she didn't say "friggin'."
As I said: my bad. I think we've all learned a little something from this about self-control, yes?)
Anyway.
I got a new camera! I just busted it out of its box and I've already taken a few shots around the house. Man, this thing is amazing. I'm glad I sprang the extra rocks for the bells and whistles - they make all the difference in the quality of the shots.
I think I may have found a new calling!
Check these out:
A candid of Morticia.
My office. (Only took a couple of tries to get this one.)
The puppies!
Gomez looking pensive.
Sometimes art just happens.
Morticia's flute concert. How about that zoom, huh?
I took this with a special cockapoo-obscuring filter.
Best part: this model comes with a custom setting for shooting in the dark.
Like I said - amazing!
Breaking News - FeedBurner has restored my missing subscribers! I am so happy to have you back! Thanks for holding my hand through that ordeal, everyone. (Just in time, too, since someone phoned in a tip and they repo'd the Mobile Command Center just this morning.)
And thank you to the wonderful Reddirt Woman for the citrus-fresh Lemonade Award! (I love visiting her blog...)

Thanks for the chuckle. I thought I was the only one who had a natural affinity for photography and could take the Best Photos Ever!
Forget Comedy--I want to attend "Dying is hard, Photography is harder" I have so much to learn. And I truly did LOLQAH (laugh out loud queitly and heartily)
You are Phoebe on the Ms Pacman machine as Ben enters Monica's apartment. What?
Oh yes, you have a promising photography career ahead of you - love it, babe, don't ever change ;-)
art finds a way.
So seriously what did you get?
Aw man! MY camera doesn't have a cockapoo-obscuring filter! Dang it! I'm marching right back down to Best Buy and slugging the guy that told me it was the best on the market. Right. Now.
lol...yay on getting a new camera..you got photo skillz girl. LOL>
I see your pictures are as good as mine we must have the same camera!
Gadzooks! (Does anyone ever say that? Really?) Gadzooks, woman, you ARE the new Annie Leibovitzencracker. Vanity Fair is a-knockin' on your door.
I voted. (Why does that sound like a confession?)
I'm impressed you can do all that without reading the manual. You are my hero. :)
Gadzooks! (Did anyone ever say that? Really?) Gadzooks, woman! You ARE the new Annie Leibovitzencracker! Vanity Fear will be a-knockin' on your teepee any minute now.
I voted. (Why does that sound like a confession?)
Wow, you have some serious photographic skills..... seriously! ;)

"Nana's Box"
LOL at getting caught using colorful language. Poor Mrs. Lingenbottom's granddaughter!!! Too funny!!
Nice pics btw.
Do you do weddings and Bar Mitzvah's? Cause you could so totaly make a fortune with your mad photos combined with your people skillz! (reference to brownie rumble...)
New cameras are always fun.I never thought to use the one on my old cell phone, but since Santa gave me an iPhone for Christmas I'm snapping snaps all over the place, and slinging email pix all over the globe. It's just incredible how the digital camera has brought out everyone's inner artist, even if we didn't know it was there before. And we don't need air brushing like all the celebs. We can just snap, snap, snap...delete, delete, delete until we get just the right shot!
Having the option of a giant green arrow on your pictures is an awesome camera feature!!!!
Reading your blog is the best ab workout ever!
I always end up laughing so hard it hurts or just till i wet my pants.
too funny... i seriously liked the swirly pic though. :)
Oh my hell, you crack me up!
That shot of the dog on the carpet? I think that is what I was looking at. How often does that poor thing get stepped on?
I will find you at BlogHer! I can't wait to meet you.
You are a natural with that camera! I am jealous that it comes with the special cockapoo-obscuring filter! I don't have that feature :(
Oh lordy.. thank you so much for the laugh you gave me this morning. I always enjoy reading your blog, but this morning was truly classic. Poor Greta.. lol. And the pictures.. those were just so great. I think my husband was waiting to assess egg quality when I was done.
Really.. thank you so much. =]
Sometimes art just happens.
That is my favorite by far. I'm going to use that line when my husband asks why I didn't delete whatever crappy picture I left on the digital camera.
I keep thinking if I buy a better camera, I'll take better pictures. Having seen your pictures, I know now that it's absolutely true!
I think this is how Ansel Adams got his start!
I really want to get a new camera, too, but I'm so cheap that I doubt it will happen for a very long time, until I'm absolutely compelled to.
I've needed a new lap-top computer for ages but have delayed purchasing it. Similarly, my parents are making me pay my own cell phone bill starting after my birthday, a move I've tried to dissuade them from taking.
I'm a chronic saver. It's my curse.
You are art yourself, Ms Anna...pure art...
You are going to rock that conference. I was slapping my desk with laughter at the pictures and your comments.
Okay, I am going to try to go vote again NOW.
Wish me luck.
Love Renee
you're 2 shots away from being the next ansel adams!
I've had my new digital SLR thing-a-ma-jiggy since last Christmas and I have yet to figure it out. Apparently there is something to those manuals after all. Now... where did I put it?
LMAO! Awesome photography. And DUDE...ette! I am SO with Little Greta and the friggin' fishy cracker thing!
congrats.
you have made me smile.
its cold, raining, husband is home from work and I have a headache.
but you have made me smile.
gratitude xxx
I'm still laughing over yesterday's parking post, hilarious. Not to mention I also have a new camera, and wondered why I couldnt see anything out of it... the lens cap was still on. Yeah, who reads the manual.
At least you didn't get your big ol thumb in there like I do! Keep at it, it'll come. Eventually.
wow, that camera has excellent zoom capability! But seriously, what kind of camera did you get?
I think you'd make a fine photographer--as long as you quit drinking on the job. ;)
you might need a light box for those inside shots....
~snark~
Wow! Please keep taking photographs. You rock!
KJ
You have such a talent for taking pictures. I am so glad you don't hide your talent under a friggin bushel.
I especially loved the "Pensive" shot and the contrast was so....unremarkable on the dogs. Lol. I have read the book on my camera and I still don't get it. Too much crap to remember.
Don't give up the comedy for photography! LOL!
ROFL...you're such a dork. Which would explain why I stalk you.
The photos are truly amazing pieces. I especially like the drain photo representing the futility of life.
That picture of the dog is priceless! There IS a dog in that picture right?
Look out Ansel Adams, that shot of the dog is going on the cover of Vogue someday!!!
Can't wait to see what you do with "The Bean" when you get to Chicago.
While this is incredibly funny (because you are always incredibly funny), there's one small thing I'd like to add here: You are in fact an incredible photographer. I've seen proof.
Oh I love the Cock-a-Poo Obscuring feature. I'm glad it is a cock-a-poo and not a pooless cock that it obscures.
I love how the dog can go camo in that rug. Just don't roomba it.
Your dark photos were intense and saying everyone looks the same in the dark. very moving.
I told you those Feedburner subscribers would be back. But trust me, I understand. I had a heart attack the first time it happened to me.
Love the new camera.
Almost as good as me. It's all about the camera you know.
I like the angles you use.
Wow - you and my kids share a genius for photography!
You ARE good!
Don't give up your day job...just sayin'! Happy Valentine's Day.
Excellent photos! You have a real eye for composition. Tell me, are you following that rule of thirds?
I laughed so hard at this b/c I finally tossed my point and shoot camera and got the SLR, I have not one good photo of my kid until last July when I got the good one.
Love the photos! You've got skillzzz! My lovely daughter asked me on the way home from Irish dance class the other day if I knew Poopy McF**kstick...No kidding! Of course, I gurgle spewed my iced coffee all across my windshield! lol! I just said nope, never heard of him and moved on to a new topic! Haven't heard about him since!
i love your blog! i am a novelist with southern roots too :) i was born in Jackson Mississippi.
Wow! They're really, um, clear and, uh, crisp. That's, uh, yeah. Sure is!
So nice. It's like taking pictures is what you were born to do!
Hahahaha, hilarious!! Glad you've got a wonderful new camera to love and learn!!!!

Oh, things could get very interesting with that cockapoo-obscuring lens. I see awards in your future. That camera is going to earn you a gold mine. :)
Takes some serious talent, babe!
I sure hope little Greta learned her lesson! Thank you so much for the shout out on twitter!
Are we seeing the birth of a new blog; The Photography Just Keeps Getting Weirder?
hahaha...I love your sense of style with those photos...very avante-garde...very anti-establishment. They speak to me.
Nice.
You always crack me up!!! LOVE. IT.
Thanks for the laugh!!!
Those photos took real skill.
Congrats on your new camera!
Regarding that picture you took in the dark...Is that Zsa Zsa Gabor licking your pet ferret? Just wondering, cause it looks like her.
Manuals are for suckers!
The photos are very artistic. Mat and frame them and you're an artiste!

These photos truly belong in a gallery of modern art. Well, that's pretty much what modern art looks like, right?
